Although everyone can be a leader, not everyone has the desire, determination, skills and character to be a great one. Having high potential employees doesn’t mean those individuals are prepared to step into a leadership role. Too often, supervisors are thrown into a role with little training, are tasked with dealing with Darth Vaders, and lack the confidence they need to rise. This session will explore the “ingredients” you need to develop leaders, how to identify high potential employees, the critical KSA's, the key components of succession/mentoring programs and how to avoid barriers and sell this need to your agency.
Learning Objectives:
Explain the traits of high potential employees and the specific things you can do to leverage them and make them a success
Detail the mindset, character, traits and skills of successful leaders and explain how their agency can work to develop these traits in their staff.
Describe what is in their gap between where your agency is with leadership development and where they want to be, and detail the specific steps they will take to develop or enhance their agency's leadership development.
