Communications Supervisor Scottsdale Police Department Scottsdale, Arizona
I will be discussing the night of the Fashion Square Mall civil unrest that took place on May 30th, 2020. This event will be told from a dispatcher's perspective to provide insight on what we as Dispatchers' encountered throughout the night and how we handled the situation. I will also discuss the impact that low frequency high-intensity events like this have on dispatchers. There will be officer On-Body camera footage that will take us directly to the scene to observe what our officers encountered throughout the night. Finally, I will discuss what you can do as an agency to better prepare for an incident like civil unrest.
