Acting Associate Administrator

Mike Dame serves as the Acting Associate Administrator within the Office of Public Safety Communications (OPSC) at the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA). Mr. Dame was appointed as the Deputy Associate Administrator in November 2018. He provides day-to-day management for NTIA’s public safety communications programs such as support to the First Responder Network Authority (FirstNet Authority) and Next Generation 9-1-1 stakeholder support. Mr. Dame previously served as the Program Director for the State and Local Implementation Grant Program (SLIGP) authorized under the Middle Class Tax Relief and Job Creation Act of 2012. Mr. Dame joined NTIA in December 2012.
Mr. Dame previously served as a Division Chief at the Office of Emergency Communications within the U.S. Department of Homeland Security for over four years supporting state and local programs such as SAFECOM, Statewide Interoperability Coordinators (SWICs), and the Interoperable Communications Technical Assistance Program (ICTAP). Additionally, he served 10 years at the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) in a number of roles to support law enforcement grant programs primarily focused on information technology and public safety communications which assisted State, local, and tribal governments.
Mr. Dame holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Government and Politics from the University of Maryland at College Park, and a Master of Public Administration degree from American University in Washington, D.C.
