Situational awareness capabilities have been evolving rapidly with increased access to location-based services, multi-media messaging, video streaming, and other complementary technologies. It is evident emergency communications centers (ECC) and tactical dispatch operations in the field could benefit from these situational awareness advances. Public safety panel members will explore technological solutions, challenges, and strategies enhancing operations of ECCs while ensuring effective integration and exchange of actionable information among ECC application platforms and applications used by responders in the field.

Learning Objectives:

  • Participants will gain an understanding of some of the applications that can be used in ECCs to complement apps used in the field.
  • Participants will gain an understanding of how information generated by situational awareness apps used by responders in the field can be effectively integrated into an ECC environment.
  • Participants will learn about successful approaches for bringing enhanced situational awareness to ECCs.
