Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA)
Dick Tenney serves as Senior Advisor, Public Safety Cybersecurity to the Executive Assistant Director, CISA Emergency Communications Division. In collaboration with other CISA elements, has led technical assistance efforts to support awareness and education of Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs) and 9-1-1 functions about cyber threats to their operations, especially ransomware. Prior to joining DHS, Tenney was private sector executive for IT and telecommunications consulting in Northern Virginia. He also served in the USAF as a special agent/counterintelligence officer. He holds graduate degrees from Georgetown University and Troy University. He is a Certified Information Systems Manager (CISM).

Since 2009, Mr. Tenney has managed technical assistance and strategic planning for emergency communications for 56 states and territories. He has spoken at IWCE, APSO and other national conferences related top public safety and homeland security since 2016. Prior to joining CISA in 2009, he spent 19 years in the private sector at the C-suite level with small, innovative IT and telecom engineering firms.. At CISA he led the Interoperable Technical Assistance Program (ICTAP) prior to assuming his present position in cybersecurity.
