Barry Furey is an APCO Senior and Life Member with more than 50 years in public safety. Having experience on both sides of the microphone, he has served as a fire officer in three states, and a 9-1-1 director in four. A former member of a number of APCO committees, he chaired the Homeland Security Taskforce, and served as Chair of the 68th Annual Conference and Exposition here in Nashville. The author of more than 300 articles and two books, he has also contributed chapters to the Fire Chief's Handbook and Managing Ambulance Service texts.
